The learner test (theory test) involves the examiner showing you pictures and asking questions from the Highway Code book consisting of ten to fifteen verbal questions on the Highway Code. You can check your knowledge on the TRAFFIC SIGNS section of this website.
The test is conducted at the Transport Department (T.O.M.) at Latsia next to the new hospital. You have to be at least 17 ½ years old to take this test. The test can be taken in English or Greek languages, but I can organise a qualified Russian, Romanian or Bulgarian translator if required. Before you take the test the examiner will check your eyesight by asking you to read from car number plates about 20 meters away. If you need glasses to read this distance, then please make sure you have them with you for the test. You do not have to book this test, so you can go during the opening times to take it. The opening times are Monday to Friday from 08:00 till 15:00. I would recommend that you go early in the morning or late in the afternoon, as there are less people there so you can finish quickly.
The cost to take the learner test is €10, and if successful you should pay €20 to issue your learner licence (provisional licence) for one year. You should also take 2 recent passport size photographs, and a Cyprus I.D. card for Cypriot citizens. For European nationals, you should also take your Yellow Slip with the issue date exceeding more than 6 months or a document proving you are living in Cyprus for more than 6 months (national insurance paper or university contract), along with a current passport or your country's I.D. card. For other nationals, a valid Pink Slip, your Alien book and your current passport.
